Built in 1919 as a 21-room private residence this splendid Italian Renaissance
Villa was home to three different prominent Tulsa families. The Tulsa
Garden Center was originally one of the most elegant homes in Tulsa, sitting on
13 country acres within the city. The estate was comprised of the main house,
two greenhouses and a solarium, a swimming pool, two five-room cottages and two
barns. The three-car garage contained living quarters for the household staff
which included a ground floor apartment as well as two apartments above the
garage. Renovated in the early thirties by George and Geraldine Snedden and
interior decorator Louis Perry, today the Tulsa Garden Center stands as a
beautiful, grand reminder of their endeavor.
In 1954 the City of Tulsa purchased the home and ten acres of
adjoining property. Today, the non-profit organization Tulsa Garden Center, Inc.
strives to support, preserve and enhance the historic building in which it is
housed. An integral part of the Woodward Park Complex, TGC works toward the
furthering of horticultural education, conservation, and promoting scientific
associations for the membership.
The Tulsa Garden Center facilities are available for rent for
weddings, meetings or other events.
